Honored and Excited to announce...
“VOICE & VOTE”
Use Your Voice and Vote NO ON PROP 8
WHO:
Some of Hollywood’s youngest and brightest stars are turning out to show their support for NO ON PROP 8: Kathy Griffin (Emmy award winner for My Life on D-List), Ryan Eggold (90210), Karina Smifnoff (Dancing with the Stars), Kate French (The L Word), Paul James (Greek), D Woods (Formerly of Danity Kane, Making The Band), Cameron Goodman (The Informers, Mad Men), Marisa Lauren (Greek, South of Nowhere), and many more. (*still pending schedule)
WHAT:
Director & Writer Woody Woodbeck, has teamed up with Dave O’Brien and Causecast to try and further the message of NO ON PROP 8 to California voters. The PSA intends to explain to people why telling friends, family, and loved ones is key to helping NO ON PROP 8 pass and keep everyone in California equal and not right discrimination in the states constitution. This PSA aims to target those who may have been told untruths about the NO ON PROP 8 campaign and clarify what it means to vote; a NO vote means a YES for equal rights.
Causecast, dubbed "a one stop philanthropy shop" by TechCrunch, is a platform where media, philanthropy, social networking, entertainment and education converge to serve a greater purpose. People want to do good, want to be inspired, and want to inspire others to join them in giving back. Causecast makes this easy by providing users with means to CONNECT with people, leaders, charities, nonprofit organizations, and brands that inspire them.

THE CAUSE:
“Proposition 8… would eliminate the fundamental right to same-sex marriage. The very act of denying gay and lesbian couples the right to marry – traditionally the highest legal and societal recognition of a loving commitment – by definition relegates them and their relationship to second class status.” Los Angeles Times Editorial, August 8, 2008
Regardless of how you feel about this issue, we should guarantee the same fundamental rights to every Californian. Vote No on 8. Let’s remember that gay and lesbian people are our neighbors, our friends, our coworkers and our family members. They are nurses, firefighters and small business owners. Same-sex couples are loving and committed couples who want to get married. They care for each other, they pay taxes and they want to protect each other and take responsibility for each other, just like other couples. We should not hurt same-sex couples in California by eliminating their right to marry.
It’s not the government’s place to tell couples who have been together for years whether or not they are allowed to marry. In California, we let people decide what is best for themselves – without government interference. Eliminating fundamental rights for same-sex couples treats them differently under the law – AND THAT’S WRONG. Vote No on 8.
Domestic Partnerships are NOT the same as marriage. Domestic partnerships are just legal documents. They don’t provide the same dignity, respect, and commitment as a marriage. In a marriage, a paramedic doesn’t tell you that you cannot get into an ambulance with your spouse. Married couples can automatically make life or death decisions for each other in these crisis situations, no questions asked. Vote No on 8.
Regardless of how you feel about this issue, it’s wrong to eliminate the fundamental rights of fellow Californians – and hurt our friends, neighbors, coworkers, and family members. THAT’S WRONG.

Such BS!

By Jim Heintz, Associated Press
MOSCOW — Police detained gay rights activists, among them European lawmakers, as they tried to present a letter to Moscow's mayor Sunday in a demonstration that also attracted a hostile crowd of people who punched and threw eggs at the activists.
The letter, signed by some 40 European lawmakers, appealed the city's ban on a march that would have taken place Sunday to mark the 14th anniversary of Russia decriminalizing homosexuality. Police quickly grabbed about a dozen demonstrators and forced them into a bus, including the Russian gay rights movement leader Nikolai Alexeyev. Police then hustled away others, including German parliament member Volker Beck, as opponents threw eggs and shouted: "Moscow is not Sodom!"
Marco Cappato, a European Parliament deputy from Italy, was kicked by one opponent as he spoke to journalists. Cappato began shouting: "Where are the police? Why don't you protect us?" and officers hauled him away as he struggled. The gay rights activists appeared to number fewer than 100, while roughly that many police were present. Cappato later told Italy's Sky TG24 that he had been released. He said that when he saw that Ottavio Marzocchi, an official with the Liberal Democrats in the European parliament, had come under attack, he began shouting and "within five seconds I was taken away by police in anti-riot gear." A total of 31 people were detained and most were later released, Moscow police spokesman Yevgeny Gildeyev said. He said two Italians were detained for jaywalking and a German was taken away by police to prevent him from being beaten. But Beck, who was later released, told The Associated Press police beat him and the others and seized their passports. Beck also denied the group was holding a demonstration, insisting they were only trying to hand over the letter.
Alexeyev said he and two other activists expected to be held until Monday, Ekho Moskvy radio reported. Cappato denied he had broken a traffic rule. "I was just trying to defend a friend from violent people because the police were not doing that," he said. The Interfax news agency quoted a Moscow city spokesman, Mikhail Solomentsev, as praising the "cooordinated and polite actions of the police, who acted in strict accordance with the law." Despite being decriminalized, homosexuality is still widely despised in Russia. Many of the gay rights opponents Sunday carried icons or other insignia of the Russian Orthodox Church, and one man wore the garb of an Orthodox priest. A woman in the headscarf typical of devout Orthodox believers repeatedly threw water from a bottle at Peter Tatchell, a British human rights activist, as he tried to speak. A young man in a camouflage T-shirt then punched Tatchell in the head and Tatchell was led away by police.
No gay rights opponents were seen taken away by police, though Gildeyev said a man was detained after attacking a Briton, presumably referring to Tatchell. The only Russian lawmaker to publicly state support for the demonstrators came from an unexpected wing: Alexei Mitrofanov of the ultranationalist Liberal Democratic Party. "How can one act in such a manner, assuming Russia wants to be a part of Europe?" Mitrofanov said at the scene, according to the Interfax news agency.
