DK #1
Just like I predicted in an earlier blog. My girls from Danity Kane have debuted at #1 on the Billboard charts; if you haven't already, get this album! Every single song is worth listening to...look out for these bumping singles: Hold Me Down, Want it, and of course One Shot....YOU GO DIDDY AND DK!! HOLLA!
Birthday Crazyness
Lets recap the events of this past weekend, they are clearly to good not to share! (Sidenote: This blog is fairly long but oh so fun to read, pardon my spelling errors as I was feeling to lazy to read through again and spell check it! hahah)
Friday:
I had worked all day and flew home to change to arrive promptly at my good friend Iris' Birthday party happening at L Scorpion on Hollywood Blvd. Greeted by my fabulous lady friends I immediatly got myself a cocktail and was charged $15 for it...I realized there would be a whole lotta nursing of my drinks to come. The little get together was a lot of fun joined by Iris' closest friends like Julie. Julie is a tall, beautiful blond who in my opinion is a freaking sweetheart and who I hope to spend some more time with. Her and I chatted a bit when a couple of her friends showed so our convo was cut short.
Kristin and I spent the entire evening doing 3 things, taking pictures of ourselves, playing "Is he or isn't he GAY?", and laughing hysterically about the girl who did not want her picture taken and when we went to threw her hand in the air like she was Princess Diana being chased at photographers...truly classic. We of course were joined by some people from SCOUT including the sweet and oh so gay boy who works for DC who was incredibly funny and great to hang out with. It of course would not be Hollywood if we didn't have a celebrity sighting; this time it was the star of Veronica Mars, whos name is escaping me and I can't be bothered to look it up. All in all it was a fun but tame evening, espcially in lue of what was to come on Saurday night.
Saturday:
I started the day before my birthday, but the 2nd day in a series of 3 that I would be celebrating for my birthday, with a brunch outting with my old roommates and my "Gay dads" from San Francisco who came down with my soon to be relocated friend Wayne to celebrate with me. The food at GRUB was incredible and if you ever get to go there, ORDER THE BACON!! SIMPLY INCREDIBLE!! We left there to go and lay by the pool of the hotel they were staying at where this foreign woman layed NAKED by the pool, clearly trying to avoid tan lines. Sitting next to her was her BF who was quite an attractive man BUT had at least a small C cup set of man boobs. Not pretty! I left my boys to get some stuff done and then a few hours later joined Wayne and Paul for Dinner at a fabulous sushi place on Santa Monica where we enjoyed the best Spicy Tuna Roll EVER. We left to get my birthday cake, where madness insued because the bakery was closed and Paul and I were having none of it. We got a manager to get us a cake out of the frige and headed to the checkout where we ran into Charlie O'Connell, Jerry's Brother, who looked fine as hell, scruffy and in pink shorts...interesting. Anyways, we darted to my house to finish getting ready where Kristin met me and we all left to head to ICANDY for the party. The party was amazing; Everyone came, we all drank way to much, danced way to much, took a lot of pictures, and enjoyed looking and being served by the icandy at ICANDY. The staff was truly incredible and Ireally apperciate the DJ playing everything I wanted to hear including "TURN IT UP" by Paris and FutureSex/Lovesongs by Justin Timberlake both of which are not released yet as singles. Do you love it!?
It was great having friends from NY meet friends from LA who met friends from San Francisco who met friends from Reality TV hahaha...and everyone got along! We headed back to my house; and when I say we, I mean myself, Austin, his friend Adam, my roomie Bobby and countless other cute gay boys. After playing some cards and making out with a very cute boy, I called it a night...oh and of course our neighbor showing up in a MooMoo and yelling at us...sorry girl!
SUNDAY:
Okay, so finally I officially turned 25. This birthday had so much meaning to me. I have overcome so much and made my life so drastically different but in such a positive way and I am so very proud of the work that I have done to make it what it is...thank god for being blessed and having strong people to walk through life with me along the way. I saw the boys from SF for some food and head turning for Brunch at the ABBEY. I really miss Brad and Paul, such lights in my life and it is hard not having them around all the time. Anywhoo, I headed to The Standard in Hollywood to take part in a great EMMY party being thrown by Project Runway and The Magical Elves. It was a great time and everyone really enjoyed themselves. Sadly, we didn't win and lost to the worst reality show ever; the Amazing Race. OYE! I ran into Runway Producer and friend Michael Rucker who also writes a behind the scenes blog for Bravotv.com about Runway that you should all check out, who told us he had heard that John Stewart who presented the award, turned to Colbert after presenting it to Amazing Race and said "It should of been Runway!" --Damn right I tell you! So later in the evening Tim Gunn arrived and hung out with the crowd. I was in the back when I heard a bunch of people calling my name. I walked towards the gathered crowd and realized Tim Gunn was standing there with a birthday cake and led the crowd, like only he can, in singing me Happy Birthday.
I was floored, I have been such a huge fan of Runway and to now not only be working on the show but having the one and only Tim Gunn sing me Happy Birthday, it was almost to much for a gay boy to bear. Several photo ops later I was trying to leave when I ran into American Idol 5 Winner Taylor Hicks who was leaving as well from our party. I went up to him and said "Hey both of our shows lost tonight, lets take a picture!", to which he responded, drunkly, "Sure! I thought you guys were going to win for sure!" That's right even the American Idol himself thought Project Runway should of won...Robbed I tell you ROBBED!!
Much love to everyone for one of the most amazing birthdays I could of only dreamed of. Being 25 is going to be a good year... I can feel it!
Stay Fabulous!

Birthday
Y Britney Y
Okay, so for years I have been a huge supporter of Britney Spears. When she dressed sexy, when she girated the wrong way, when she "cheated" on Justin, when she made out with Madonna; I have always stood my ground and been an advocate of my TOXIC princess. Christ even when Britney decided to marry that loser K-Fed I said "Hey...hey maybe it is real LOVE?"
Now I sit here asking myself "What was I thinking!?"
WHERE DID BRITNEY GO!!!??? OH OH WHERE DID BRITNEY GO!!
Apparently there really are Aliens who have swooped down to the earth, stolen the Britney who had her shit together, who was an entertainer, who loved strutting her shit, who loved being just Britney...and replaced her with a real life White Trash Barbie!
Oh Britney, Y oh Y...I MISS YOU...COME BACK GIRL!! DONT GO INTO THE LIGHT!!

Runway Eps 4 & 5
So I am posting about episodes 4 & 5 to catch up so all of you active blog readers CAN STOP complaining that I haven't updated my runway rewind blog in forever.
Ep. 4: Working in reality TV I have a certain substantial right to say what Keith Michael did was wrong and clearly against the rules and Kayne and the gang had every single right to say something about it. These designers fight to be apart of this show...thousands of people try out for this show and a lot of very talented people do not make the show and he did. He and every other contestant have an unwritten "must do" law when being on the show that they MUST not cheat and must remain true to themselves as a designer and realize how lucky they are to be apart of this crazy show. Keith Michael may have been a great designer and who knows how far he would of made it but he clearly did what shouldnt have been done and got the boot because of it. Keith, sorry you got the early boot, good luck in all you do. Congrats to Angela's team for pulling it together, putting aside there differences and really "making it work" and designing a great piece that deserved to win. To Angelas credit, even though her work thus far has been "shit" I am very impressed how she pulled it together, trusted her partners, and made it happen for herself and Michael and Laura...You go girL!
Ep. 5: HOTT PINK BOOTY SHORTS!! I really enjoyed this episode and thought the quality of the pieces were of very high quality but lets chat briefly about my boy Robert. For god sakes man, did you check your gay card at the door, where is your exciting sense of style that you showed us in the beginning. The judges had every right to call his stuff boring because this week and last weeks were both quite boring and he needs to kick it up a notch if he plans on being around for awhile. So back to the booty shorts, oye, I LOVED THEM!! No mind you, I did love my girl Kaynes work in this episode...it was simply fierce. Michael simply got himself caught up in the spirit of the challenge, channeled my sista Pam G., and made an outfit that would make any of those rap video dancers take a double take and holla "SAY WHAT!" YOU go boy...now if we can just get him to stop taking offense to the fact that people think he's gay we would truly LOVE MK.
I have yet to watch Ep. 6 so stay tuned for my Runway Rewind of Ep. 6 to come...
STAY FABULOUS BITCHES!

Boy George reports for NYC trash duty
By SAMANTHA GROSS, Associated Press Writer 42 minutes ago
NEW YORK - With a city-issued broom in his hand, Boy George started his court-ordered community service early Monday, sweeping leaves and trash off the sidewalks of New York.
It took less than an hour for the former Culture Club frontman to get into a spat with the media.
"You think you're better than me?" he yelled. "Go home. Let me do my community service."
Boy George took to the streets of Manhattan as a Department of Sanitation worker wearing an orange vest, dark capri pants, shoes without socks, and without the wild makeup and androgynous style that made him so recognizable as the '80s icon who sang "Karma Chameleon" and "Do You Really Want to Hurt Me?"
"This is supposed to be making me humble. Let me do this," he said. "I just want to do my job."
The singer, born George O'Dowd, was ordered to spend five days working for the Department of Sanitation after pleading guilty in March to falsely reporting a burglary at his lower Manhattan apartment. The officers who responded found cocaine instead.
At 7 a.m. Monday, a sport utility vehicle pulled up at a Lower East Side sanitation depot. The agency planned to issue the singer a shovel, broom, plastic bags and gloves for the job of picking up trash on the city's streets.
In June, Manhattan Criminal Court Judge Anthony Ferrara issued a warrant for O'Dowd's arrest after he initially failed to complete the requirements of his plea deal. When O'Dowd appeared in court 10 days later, Ferrara called off the warrant but warned the singer he could not escape his community service commitment.
"It's up to you whether you make it an exercise in humiliation or in humility," Ferrara told O'Dowd.
O'Dowd, 45, initially envisioned a service project more in line with his status as an '80s icon.
He petitioned to spend the time helping teenagers make a public service announcement. Among his other proposals to the court: holding a fashion and makeup workshop, serving as a DJ at an
HIV/
AIDS benefit or doing telephone outreach.
Boy George's manager, Jeremy Pearce, told reporters shortly after the singer arrived for his first day on the job: "He doesn't show any kind of emotion about these things. He takes it in his stride."
"He doesn't need to be humiliated," Pearce said. "He's a humble person."
"Things outside in the street were a little chaotic," said Sanitation spokesman Keith Mellis. "We'll see if there's some cleaning that can be done inside."
The sweeping later resumed in a gated Sanitation parking lot.
"This is for everyone's safety," Deputy Sanitation Chief Albert Durrell said as photographers crowded outside the gate. He said the day's work also might include mopping inside the depot.
Boy George appeared to be in good spirits during a late-morning break, waving to reporters on the other side of a chain-link fence and yelling, "How are you?" before returning to work.

Miami Herald Review: Mariah Carey shines as tour opens in Miami // 12:10 PM EST Updated by Lynn
The Mariah Carey saga is one of the most intriguing stories in pop-music history: After riding her five-octave voice to become the best-selling female performer of the 1990s, she suffered a spectacular public meltdown in 2001.
The songbird signed an $80 million deal with Virgin Records, but quickly sabotaged her success by posting suicidal messages on her website, appearing on MTV's Total Request Live dressed in a T-shirt and nothing else, and starring in the universally ridiculed movie Glitter. Virgin ended up eating $28 million of her contract just so she'd go away.
Carey's personal life never dipped so low as that of her diva rival Whitney Houston, but until last year's chart-topping comeback album The Emancipation of Mimi, Carey had become a laughingstock in the music business.
Saturday night at downtown Miami's American Airlines Arena, Carey showed a near sellout crowd that she and superstardom definitely still belong together. This kick-off date of her Adventures of Mimi tour had plenty of glitter, but only the good kind.
The only negative was the hourlong wait after opening act Busta Rhymes energized the already packed house -- but Carey's fans didn't seem to mind. Just before 10 p.m., the crowd roared as a radiant Carey, classy, composed and in complete control, kicked things off with her lively new hit It's Like That.
Unlike her 2000 tour, which opened with a 10-minute video featuring Carey's evil twin Bianca, who tries to hurt the ''good Mariah,'' her Mimi show emphasizes substance over inane skits. The sequined singer -- even her microphone was decked out in matching sequins -- took her adoring fans on a tour through all her biggest hits, including Dreamlover, Honey, My All, Shake It Off, Fly Like A Bird, Fantasy (during which she ventured out into the crowd), Thank God I Found You, Hero and her soaring cover of The Jackson 5's I'll Be There.
But she wasn't done: For her encore, Carey came out in a sparkling ''Miami blue'' dress she said she bought especially for the Magic City and closed with a bang, singing her monster hit We Belong Together and Butterfly -- a fitting ending that represented her metamorphosis from washed-up diva to reborn superstar.
Busta Rhymes was a fitting warm-up, performing Give It To Me (his duet with Mariah) and peppering his rapid-fire rap set with shout-outs to Don't Cha (his hit with the Pussycat Dolls) and the Red Hot Chili Peppers' Give It Away.

SF Chronicle Article: A lil blurb about me!
THE INSIDE SCOOP
Bazirgan strikes out on his own
Amanda Berne
Wednesday, June 7, 2006
Shortly after he took over the kitchen at Baraka in San Francisco, David Bazirgan was named a 2005 Chronicle Rising Star Chef. Within the year, he was put in charge of three restaurants -- La Suite, Baraka and Chez Papa, which all feature different cuisines and styles.
It's been a whirlwind, but by the end of the month, he'll no longer be the executive chef at any of them. Bazirgan gave owner Jocelyn Bulow three months' notice and is on the hunt for a restaurant of his own.
The parting was amicable, Bazirgan says, but "It was just time for me to move on and do my own thing."
Bazirgan hopes to do a fine-dining oriented restaurant, but in a low-key style he feels befits San Francisco. He's aiming for a lower price point than most fine-dining establishments, but will eventually offer tasting menus and wine pairings.
At Chez Papa (1401 18th St., at Missouri) Bazirgan has already been replaced by Olivier Souvestre. Souvestre worked as chef de cuisine at Spigalina in Lenox, Mass., and was executive chef at La Guirlande de Julie in Paris. Bulow says that by the end of the month half the menu will be different, reflecting the Provencal style that Bulow and partners originally intended for the restaurant.
At Baraka (288 Connecticut, at 18th Street), chef de cuisine Ereme Passado takes over. Passado has been with the restaurant for three years and, according to Bulow, was already overseeing the kitchen.
As for La Suite, Bulow said in an e-mail that he will close it at the end of July and reopen it in September as a totally new restaurant.
Although I have an "in" on what's going to happen my lips are under lock and key. For now.
I fell in love with La Cocina when I visited it at an open house a couple of months ago. The "incubator kitchen" in the Mission District is a nonprofit organization that helps local low-income people create and market food products by providing a kitchen, storage space and professional development and support.
Now, the group will have its own retail outlet starting next month at the Sunday market at the Ferry Building. The hot food vendors will rotate from week to week, but the specialty products like the can't-believe-they're-vegan Lovemore Gourmet chocolates and beautifully simple Cmb Sweets will always be available.
As reported last week in Scoop, the Red Grill and Whiskey Lounge (4063 18th St., near Castro) has been sold. Now, I can tell you who the buyers are: the managing partners of the Glen Park hot spot Chenery Park (683 Chenery St., at Diamond).
"We want people to go to both restaurants, but for different reasons," says Joe Kowal, also a partner.
Kowal and a fourth partner John Bedard have promoted server Matt Walker to be general manager of the new location, very tentatively named Eureka Restaurant & Bar. It's set to open in early fall, after it's freshened up with new paint and carpeting and a more upscale vibe to appeal to the Castro clientele.
Edible Communities have been popping up at farmers' markets and stores around the country. The free local publications focus on organic, sustainable and other food issues in a magazine-style newsletter format.
Edible started in Ojai (Ventura County), and each one is usually owned, published and edited by one person.
Although the Edibles just hit the Bay Area within the past year, they're already going through some changes. Writer-editor Bruce Cole is now publisher and editor of Edible San Francisco, which will combine San Francisco, Marin, Sonoma and San Mateo counties. Cheryl Koehler will fill both jobs for Edible East Bay.
No stranger to online media, SauteWednesday.com founder Cole is designing a Web site called Edible Nation, which will launch in July.
Edible Sonoma, which published just one issue, has officially ended production.
Caught up with Lance Dean Velasquez, owner of the just-closed Bendean in Berkeley. All is well, but he has traded in owning a restaurant for a job as the food and beverage director/executive chef of City Beach, a conference center in Fremont that does outside catering and special functions, as well as running an on-site restaurant called Pineapple Bar & Grill.
"It's a great company and will position me in an easier transition to get out of the restaurant business," says Valesquez. "My son is 9, and I don't want him saying, 'Where were you?' when he is 16."
Bendean (1647 Solano Ave., at Ventura) is up for sale.
More than 150 people showed up in San Francisco for round one of Bravo's "Top Chef" auditions at the Sir Francis Drake on Sunday. In answer to a Craigslist ad, home chefs, ex-chefs and professional chefs came out to compete to be on the reality show where the winner gets a good chunk of change -- nice collateral to start a restaurant.
Surprisingly, I ran into a few chefs I know, including Lime's Sharon Ardiana and former Home chef Jeff Banker. Ardiana said she didn't consider trying out until casting coordinator Woody Woodbeck recruited her from Lime's kitchen, but that it would definitely be an interesting opportunity if she made the cut.
Upon entering, yours truly was asked: "Are you here to be a supportive girlfriend?" Maybe I should have competed after all.

Celebrate
Hey there everyone!! Wow my blog has been getting nearly 1000 hits a week which is really incredible and makes me wish I could post more often but things are so crazy right now, so I do apologize. I have been incredibly busy working on the 2nd exciting season of Top Chef which premieres on BRAVO in October. How exciting it is to be making a 2nd season of this show, the feedback from the first season was exciting and extremely positive so now going into the 2nd season, in a new city (LA) and with a new Host (Padma Lakshmi; Google her), everyone is super stoked for you to all see it, so watch for that in October.
Hope you all have been enjoying the new season of Project Runway and exciting news for me is that I will be in NYC working on the TOP SECRET finale in September. So all of you NYC peeps of mine, be ready, though I will be working non-stop I will make sometime to go out and about with all of you!!
I am finally heading home for the first time in almost a year, though I was on the east coast for my Nonnies funeral in March; I really didn't get to see anyone. I am super excited to see all of my friends and family. I go through a serious withdrawal from them at certain points, espicially around my birthday and others close to me who celebrate big events; such as my niece turning 1 who I will get to share that with when I come home. Though I may not speak of them often, I have an incredibly supportive sibiling tree...My brother Ray and my sisters Jenn and Sonja are truly such incredible motivators in my life and continually make me proud. My brother has grown so much since I moved to CA and I never would of thought he would of become the young man he is today, he means the world to me. We have come from so little and fight day in and day out for emotional and financial stability but always find time to connect and express love and support to one another. I pray for and continue to work towards my dreams and success so I can help him expierence all the things life is intended for. Anyways, I will be arriving on the morning of Aug. 31st and be there til the 4th of Sept, though a very short trip, I'm going to try and do as much as I can and see everyone I can while I am there. (My best friend Bri is right now jumping up and down celebrating that I am coming home...I MISS YOU TO GIRL!!)
In just about 22 days I will be turning 25 years old. For me this is kind of a surreal age, because when I first went into to see my doctor about my surgery, he told me my last option would be the surgery and that if I didn't have it done and continued on the horrible health road I was on, I would not make it to see 25, and here I am, feeling healthy, loving my life, on the road to be the success I have always dreamed of and finally finding an inner peace I have always wanted.
Thank for checking out my blog and I look forward to hearing from you all soon...
